Module 4: Selecting Physical Activities

In Module 4, we learn how to identify factors that should be considered when choosing a physical activity, how to identify whether considerations when choosing a physical activity, and to explain caloric balance.

To start off, in order to be fit and healthy, you need to engage in some type of recreational program. When selecting a recreational program, it is helpful to use the answers to the following questions to establish a program that you will enjoy and be successful at:
  • Which component of physical fitness do you need/want to improve?
  • What types of activities do you enjoy?
  • What types of activities help you manage your stress?
  • What sport skills do you have?
  • Would you like to participate with others in these activities or on your own?
  • Where are your chosen activities offered?
  • Will you need special equipment?

These are few effective home based remedies for period problems in ...

As stated in the previous lesson, the recreational activities you select should be based on your personal feelings, skills, and reasons for participating in a particular activity. Some example you have to put into considerations would be, health conditions, personality and attitude, reason for participation, and environmental consideration.

Health conditions~
Health conditions and physical disabilities may limit the type of activities and how vigorously you can participate in those activities.
Personality and Attitude~
Everyone is different which means that there is not one activity that will meet everyone's needs when determining the recreational activities you will participate in. You also need to consider if you like activity with other people or individual activity as well as whether you prefer a self-directed activity or a coach to guide you.
Reason for Participation~
The reason you are participating in a particular activity can influence your choice of activity. For example, if you are participating in an activity as a way to manage stress, a highly competitive activity may not be the best choice for this purpose.
Environmental Considerations~
When choosing an activity to participate in, the temperature, humidity, air pollution, and traffic (if your driving) can affect your choice.

Connecting to environmental considerations, is weather considerations. One could get heat exhaustion and to help calm it down, slowly drink water, cool down with ice, or a cold shower.
You could also get a heat stroke. If you have bad symptoms, it's recommend to call 911. Until they come, cool down with ice applied to the front and back of head, remove clothing and sit in a cold shower or apply rubbing alcohol to the body.
Lastly, you can get heat cramps. Drink water and take breaks in a cool environment, as well as reduce layers of clothing.
